Battle Bots Battle Bots Using very advanced LEGO® parts and pieces, students learn to design and build their own motorized battle cars and other vehicles. By using principles of simple and complex machines, gearing, and mechanical advantage, students then try flip, push, or smash their opponent’s battle vehicles. Brain over brawn through applied physics. Each team attempts to exploit the design weaknesses or the incidental mechanical advantage of their opponent’s bot. Lessons demonstrate the use of mechanical lifts, nets, drills, ramps and more, to disable or overcome other bots. This is the type of activities our students seem to universally love, and though they may outgrow their love of LEGO® (but don’t count on it), this insight into physics will stay with them forever.
